But I have the idea...
Ready?
Write a story about something you* love so much and want so bad but can't have it.
*You can be either yourself (1st person POV) or an MC (3rd person), either is fine.
Why?
One, because it's my group (but it's here for you). There are, I'm sure, other prompt groups out there doing the same old thing because they are the same old thing. You're here because you want something else. Two, because writing about unrequited love is boring and I don't want to read it or subject anyone else to it. Boring is subjective, yes, but come on. I'm here to make you think harder than "omg i love that guy but he's got a girlfriend and he doesn't know i'm alive boohoowahh" -- no. Not interested.
So what am I looking for?
Show us longing. Show passion. Show why the POV of choice entity loves and wants what they want so bad and why they can't have it AND/OR what would happen if they did have it. You don't have to make the reader want it but you have to make the reader understand why the main character loves and wants it so bad. The reason why they can't have it should be intense. Because they don't have the money for it isn't good enough. They HAVE TO HAVE IT. What are they willing to do to get it? LOL then they still don't get it... or do they... no. They don't. Something else happens instead to make it even more brutal.
Give yourself something to write. Give us something to read.
What can it be?
Anything as long as it doesn't breathe. Anything that doesn't bleed when it's cut. Anything that doesn't have a heartbeat. It can be a concept (like a life-long dream of some sort). It can be an actual inanimate object. It doesn't even have to be anything too crazy. It just has to be something that was never birthed from another living creature. I hope this is clear. If not, I'm here to answer your questions, as always. You know I will always work with you to hammer out ideas.
Other necessary guidelines
It can be a full story or vignette:
750-1250 words for a vignette, 1500-2000 for a full story.
Any genre. 1st or 3rd person. You know I don't read 2nd person.
Due on 2-28-2013 either in a note here or my personal page.
Please don't forget to link back to the group with the prompt number.
Leave further questions here in the comments and/or in a note to me.
