Here's a prompt for your face (it should be a fun one, though... hopefully!):
The WORST place to hear the phrase "Welcome Back."
The thing that I want to stand out is the SETTING. Sometimes settings are overlooked in stories or at very least, more phoned in than anything else. Settings are also characters, you know (well, if you didn't, you know now). We're all so much more concerned with silly things like character development and plot... so for once, let's focus in harder on something else! Where is the character? The more unique and specific the better. Say they're at the doctor's office. But are they at the proctologist? An abortionist? The plastic surgeon? Surprise me. And if you can't be unique, try harder. If you need help, note me.
Guidelines
Setting is key but also think about if they are with someone for the first time. Or their grandmother.
Why is it the worst place for them to hear this phrase?
Don't go crazy on the backstory, we need to know why it's the worst place but no info dumps.
Like I said, make setting be the crucial element here. Don't be lazy on everything else, though.
ONE PROVISION --> if you think of a mundane setting but a great story involving a character at the setting, I might allow it. I mention this only because the idea I have revolves around a hotel. If you have questions or want me to give it a green light to go with the green bullet, note me. Odds are I will bend if the potential for story hotness is there. Odds are, knowing you guys, the potential IS there.
It can be in any POV, any genre.
Make it at least 1500 words long, no more than 2000.
This is due on my birthday, December 6th, 2012. Note it to me here or at my personal page.
If you have questions, please get in touch.
Life is short. This is prompt #30.
Also welcome to a ton of new members! Thank you for your interest in the group and kudos to you for choosing my spot to help you on your path to awesome writing!
